Week 1 in the Books, Sort of. by Brian Meyers 4/25/2011

Sunshine and temperature in the low 50’s were the saving grace of the 2011 opening week as six of the National league teams were able to get their seasons underway last Thursday night.

Hitless/Ponyboys
Kuzmin out dueled Ponyboy newb Mark Ford in a close 2-1 battle in game one.  The scoring for both teams drove in by homeruns from Mason and Lewis.  The Ponyboys offense sprung to life in game two as they pounced on Lewis for 6 long balls producing 11 runs in a mercy killing after just 4 short innings.

Game 1 / Game 2

Itchers/Lemons
Flesher East was alive with offense as both teams combined to score 39 runs in two games!  The Belly Itchers slugging proved to be way too much for the new Lemons, as they hit 14 extra base hits (8 doubles, 6 homers).  Itchers sweep.

Game 1 / Game 2

Sidewinders/Waterfalls
Off to another hot start at the beginning of the season, Ryan Davis drives in 9 runs in a double header sweep of the Sidewinders.  Davis was 4-7 with 2 Homeruns.  Waterfall rookie Matt Smorch strikes out 14 hitters in his first KWL outing.
