Noteworthy from Week 2: Brian Lewis 5/13/13

So far in this young season we’re seeing some surprises in the standings.

After two complete weeks of league play only 2 teams remain undefeated. The Diablos and the Friars are the last powerhouses standing without a notch in the loss column. Having a couple strong teams showing zero losses so early in the season is not very surprising.  The unexpected part comes from the big name teams that are so far from joining the Friars and Diablos at the top.

  • The storied franchise Industrials sit at 2 – 2 with Brian Meyers taking both loses on the mound.
  • The PF Flyers, continuing their painful losing streak from 2012, are winless after 4 games.
  • The Kentucky Waterfalls are 2 – 2 with Brian Rensch getting a rare early season loss.
  • Probably the biggest surprise of all is the 1-3 start of the 4 time champion Belly Itchers.

With the slow starts and tough schedules ahead these 4 teams need to shake off the funk, fast!  Perhaps they need some extra BP or maybe they just need to invoke the spirit of Carl Carlton.  Which every the choose, they will all need to start getting some sweeps or they could find themselves at the bottom of their respective divisions.  And as most of you know, crawling up the standings can be extremely difficult after the All-Star break.
