Opening Week Recap!
Snowsuit put their offense on display for both games of the series, over powering the Chuckers with a very balanced attack. They hit .419 as a team during the series and each player drove in a run. Melissa Brink pitched game one in dominate fashion, striking out 11 and only giving up a handful of hits.
The Friars jump started their season at the expense of one of the new AL expansion teams, shutting out No Big Deal for the entire series and limiting them to 4 hits. Andy Ross, pitching for the first time with his new team, appeared to be in mid season form, as he one hit the men in orange while fanning 12.
The Ducks, finally with a roster large enough to take advantage of the 3 outfielder rule, kept the games close, only losing 2-5 and 4-2, respectively.
Two expansion teams sharing their debut, turned into a 2:30 hour slow paced double header. Pitching control was the story of the night, as both teams combined for 30 walks between the two games. Behind Slugger Adam Kuzmin, Hitless ran off with Game one, however the PF Flyers managed to pull together a lead inning rally (or should we say late inning collapse by Lewis) to split the series.
40s vs. GTM
A rusty looking Monday Night 40s team ran into a cruising freight train, as Bryan and his Gents throttled the Everett Brothers for 16 runs combined. Kyle Hess looked outstanding, pitching a shutout in a game one.
LEM vs. BEL
Game one was a slug-fest that ended 8-10 with a Mike Downs walk off HR. A total of 11 Homers were hit during this 18 run hit parade. AJ took the mound for the first time in 2010 and with much rust. Walking 12 batters leading to a 5-2 loss.
DBL vs. SID
The Diablo’s bombarded the new co-ed expansion team 24-0 overall. Fun was had by all…of the Dibalos.
KEN vs. 5DP
Story of the night was, Rookie Brian Rensch throwing a No-Hitter in his first start, while striking out 16 batters. Waterfalls sweep the series backed by great pitching.
